Re: Top two pair c/r\'ed on the turn. . .
I used to limp this PF from EP, but now I raise it--eventually you will too, but KQ will not be a losing hand if you don't. I 3-bet the turn and then punch my testicles when it gets capped (but throwing up in your mouth or peeing yourself is fine). If capped call down. If called, bet the riv.

Re: Top two pair c/r\'ed on the turn. . .
For me, pf KQ off is a 51% raise, 49% call with few reads, so I think limping here is OK. Bet the flop 100% of the time. Scary board for top 2. You need to see where you are quickly.
So the BB c/r you? He played any 2 here, which is another reason for raising your hand pf, although I doubt most fish will fold a hand like J9 from the BB. What to do here? I lean towards raising to isolate the BB. The rest of the field wil have to call at least 2 & maybe 3 if BB caps. If he does, I call the cap bet. On the riv, I bet if I catch a K or Q OR if there was no cap on the turn. Otherwise, I call the BB's bet. |

Results. . .
Turn (4 hands, 4.5 big bets): 8[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]
Sb checks, bb checks, Hero bets, CO calls, button folds, bb raises, Hero 3-bets, CO folds, bb calls. River (2 hands, 10 big bets): 4 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] bb checks, Hero bets, bb calls. Bb shows down J [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] 9 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], MHING. When I 3-bet the turn, I was hoping to fold the CO if he was hanging around with an ace or jack for the gutshot, plus I would at least have a strong idea if I was beat if bb raised again. Do I want CO to continue, even if he has a gutshot draw in this situation, or do you think I was okay to try to knock him out? I was pretty sure I was going to call on the river UI; should I have just called on the turn and saved the big bet? Also, this seemed like a clear value bet on the river at the time; what do you think? Right now I lean to checking behind, since a straight might have c/r'ed me again; am I just reasoning based on results here? Oh, and thanks for not hammering me too hard for not raising pre-flop, guys . I was in the middle of a stretch of five KQo hands where AKx flopped, and it was giving me a headache. |

Re: Results. . .
Nah you're line was fine IMO. BB should have capped the turn and led the river; he saved you a bet.
Raising preflop probably wouldn't have saved you either; I know I'd call w/ J9s if I were BB getting 9 to 1. Nice hand--you can't win 'em all. |

Re: Results. . .
Hi Briddle.
A c/r is a strong move on this board. If I 3-bet the turn it's with the intention of calling a cap and folding the river UI... which I'm going to hate to do, especially if it gets HU. We may or may not drop CO when we 3-bet, but unless he has a straight draw of some sort we don't mind if he calls. I just call the c/r, planning to call down UI. This might change if I have reason to suspect that Villain would c/r this turn with a wide range of hands. |
