Re: KQ takes free card?
Why is no one saying to 3 bet the flop?

[ QUOTE ] This looks like a really sweet situation for a turn donk-bet... [/ QUOTE ] [/ QUOTE ] Gee wiz...I totally missed the PF in the hand. The PF call sucks. In the hand, I would have c/ced this all the way, if I got to the flop because of misclick. After I misclicked and bet, I would 3 bet the flop and lead the turn. |

Anyway, your play in the hand looks good to me. [/ QUOTE ] I can't believe I'm hearing you say this. |

[/ QUOTE ] I'll bite: I'm confused as to why you think that bet-three-betting is better than betting and calling the raise, given that you think check-calling is actually best. You seem to be suggesting that: Check-calling > Bet-three-betting > bet-calling and I can't really seem to figure out a reason why this might be true... It seems that bet-calling needs to be somewhere in between check-calling and bet-three-betting... |

[ QUOTE ] Anyway, your play in the hand looks good to me. [/ QUOTE ] I can't believe I'm hearing you say this. [/ QUOTE ] The whole damn hand is uncomfortable, but it seems all right to me. Preflop: I think KQ may be just good enough to call with from the BB, in a 3-way pot, versus an EP raise from an 11-percent PFR guy. Maybe I'd rather have 98s (I'm not sure), but I think I'd play the possibly dominated KQ. Flop: I don't know. I don't think I like my hand quite enough to checkraise. At the same time, I'm not sure this Villain is auto-raising, so if he raises and helps me "protect" my hand, I'm not entirely happy. Maybe check-calling is the way to go, but if Villain doesn't auto-bet, then that sucks. Turn: I think this check is fine. River: The bet-fold a lot of people have advocated seems good to me. |

[/ QUOTE ] Gee wiz....I suck at reading. I thought this was HU from the get go....man o man. My apologies to everyone in the thread. WD - my lines were for HU play, and I still like them best in that scenario. So...I still fold this in the BB. I mean, we're at the bottom of the raises for an EP raiser and we're OOP, we can't possibly think we have an edge here, and it makes for hands that are "damn uncomfortable". So...the bet on the flop makes more sense now, but, I'm still not sure I like it best. To those wanting to donk bet the turn, why? I would donk bet/fold the turn if I didn't have the gutshot as well. Here, I don't like it because I'm inclined to call a turn raise. The river, I can't see folding this hand. |

[/ QUOTE ] I am often ahead here and hate to give a free card to a worse hand that will not pay off on the river when missing, but will pay the bet now. I feel fine folding to a raise also. |
