Re: Commerce $6/12??

Does that Stud game at the Hustler always run Sunday nights? It would be cool to go and see them play. [/ QUOTE ] It has the the last two times I've been there on a Sunday evening (in the last month or two) but there's no guarantee. ~ Rick |

Re: Commerce $6/12??
If you're looking to choose between the Bike and HPC, my experience has been that the action at HPC is somewhat looser. Of the two, I prefer the Bike because HPC doesn't enforce standards of play very well, so you often see card throwing, swearing, fights, etc. The Bike seems to control it better.
My preference is Commerce, but as one or two of the posters mentioned above, there are few if any 6-12 games spread, and the chips are pretty nasty. I have to disagree with some of the comments about 4-8 through 20-40 being the same. Commerce 4-8 is extremely loose, the 6-12 tightens up quite a bit. When you get to 9-18 there, you'll start noticing the game gets aggressive, often with five or six decent players cutting up the three or four fish at the table. Good luck. |

Between Hollywood Park and The Bike - which has more 6/12 tables or better games? [/ QUOTE ] They both have about 3-4 tables running at peak times, 2-3 at slow times... but the Bike has the benefit of not being a seedy, abysmal dump in the middle of Inglewood. If you want to keep your sanity, go to the Bike. |

Re: Commerce $6/12??
I ended up going to the Bike. That place is so nice (I've been playing at Hawaiian Gardens the past few times).
I played the 6/12 and had a blast. The quality of play was only SLIGHTLY better than the 4/8 games. There were probably 5-8 people to each flop, almost zero trickery, and lots of people chasing hands down. I left -$3, but I ran card dead for a while. When I got there, there was a quadropalegic(sp?) with his wife/woman playing his hands, that was a bit odd. Some mexican guy named Hector took a liking to me and was buying me drinks all night, so we started throwing chips back and forth. All in all it was a fun night and I think that's going to be my game from now on. Thanks guys. B |

Comfort-wise you can't beat it, especially if you play green chip. Yeah, he kept talking about how he was in a $4 million dollar fight.......against his ex wife. Some other guy (I think his name was Angie) was a crack up too.

Re: Commerce $6/12??
Hi bnortho,
Although many have given helpful responses, especially about the quality and comfort of other casinos that will spread more 6/12 games than Commerce, I don't think anyone really answered your question. A warm up for Vegas doesn't necessarily need to be done at the Commerce 6/12. If you're going to be where the glitz is, you'll probably be playing the 6/12 at the Mirage or 8/16 at Bellagio or Wynn. The Commerce 6/12 is normally not a good game at all. At most, there are two tables running, and most of them are played by "transition players." Meaning that it's filled players that are moving up from 4/8, thinking that they're better now, or some old nits passing some time in their retirement days, waiting for a 100NL game. The games are sporadic where you may have a lapse in action for a while and then spurts of aggression. There is nothing exciting about these games and your profit level will be better playing the 4/8. Oh yeah, and as Joker mentioned, the goop left on the green $2 chips even have the CSI team baffled. Don't think that by jumping up slightly in a limit will "prepare" you for Vegas. Play within your budget and avoid mediocre games like the Commerce 6/12. I'll be in Vegas myself next weekend. Good luck. |
