Re: Party beginners
I love these tables. Playing there is almost like going to the ATM. I was finishing up clearing a bonus at empire and was -60BB over the last 2 days on tables that were unusually tight. After I finished clearing it I moved over to Party and had made that all back in an hour and a half. When you've got a premium hand just keep betting and raising. They'll call down with anything. I flopped aces full last night, and had someone call me down with nothing more than a King.

Re: Party beginners
Play suited connectors more than you normally would, be careful with high PP that will drain you if you overbet them.

[ QUOTE ]
yeh im value betting, hardly bluffing, Playing same tight game. [/ QUOTE ] I hope you're not too tight... And playing the "same game" isn't smart to do at any table. Look at the table and play the game that best suits those around you. |

Re: Party beginners
You're definitely missing out on some profitable opportunities, and you're not raising enough. You should be able to limp a lot of stuff UTG, and you should be looking to raise more on the button for value. We had one poster around here for a while, grjr, who was having success with a 27% VPIP. I was always a little skeptical, but under these conditions, I think you could pull that off.

Re: Party beginners
Trouble is its a big mix of loads of fish, with the odd tag.
I've limped Qjo and find i lose due to kick to KJo etc. Really hard to get away with limping things when theres such a wierd mix. I've moved to a tighter table to see how this goes for the next hour. Then ill open another, Driving me mad this downswing... makes me doubt my whole game. |

Re: Party beginners
I went digging into the archives for some of grjr's posts that I liked. He had a really great series of play alongs that brought out the best of not only the regulars of this forum (look for veterans here who were then n00bs), but also some people from Mid/High came to chime in. This is probably some of the best preflop discussion you'll read outside of the training wheels post, and there are lots of great considerations postflop, too. These should all be required reading for anyone who hasn't seen them before.
