Re: The Self Righteous Arrogant and MY POKER PROGRESSION
you know, that does make sense. perfect sense.
My previous posts still had lingerings of hitting a six week wall. I want people to chase me with incorrect odds. I know i do. What i posted earlier was me coming out of a blood bath that was so sick I had to document for future reference. But one point still stands....If you put AA against seven other hands and see them all to the river....you're toast. This is exaggerated. But i hope you understand that after six weeks of sickness, I might be a little out of my mind. Bad beats come with the territory, but every player eventually runs into a "wall" where they seem to be rampant. If you play as much as i do, it can be devastating. What got me out of the wall was moving up to 30-60. I see what you're saying, and i suppose the reason i said what i said in an earlier post was because I was tired of losing as a huge favorite. |

Re: The Self Righteous Arrogant and MY POKER PROGRESSION
Wow. Man. Calm down.
I never claimed to be superior. I just noticed that after 10K hands the 30 was better suited for my style than the 15-30. I was just wondering if anyone else noticed this and if they did, why? Maybe it's a 10K hand fluke, we'll find out. But 10K hands is a decent demographic. |

If you put AA against seven other hands and see them all to the river....you're toast. [/ QUOTE ] You do realize how often you will make a set by the river with AA and roughly how often that will be the best hand? And how often you will make the nut flush when four to one of your suit hits the board and how often that will be the best hand? And how often you will make aces up when the board pairs a card nobody is holding and how often that will be he best hand? And yes sometimes AA does hold up unimproved against 7 players, though obviously not as frequently as it does heads up. With all due respect, you seem to want to play in a high stakes game that doesn't have tremendous variance. What posters here are trying to tell you is that the 30/60 does have a high variance and that, combined with the lower winrate you expect to make because other players make fewer mistakes, you will likely go through stretches where you will lose a lot of money. Given your statement about pocket aces up against a large field, you are displaying a serious misunderstanding about one of the basic concepts in poker. Hopefully, it is just a short-term amnesia brought about by your recent downswing; if you genuinely believe you don't want to take AA up against 7 opponents or you routinely start playing suboptimally whenever you run bad, you will likely take a beating at high limit poker. I believe that is what the posters have been trying to tell you, and this is the most polite way I can convey this message to you. I really think you should spend more time thinking about and discussing poker, and less time telling this forum how you would like people to respond to your posts. |

[/ QUOTE ] 4 real. i was amazed lestat put that much into it. he is 100% correct and it was indeed more effort than you deserve given how little you thought about your original post (i.e. "take AA to the river vs. 7 people and you're toast" and "i was coming off a big hitting a wall and was out of my mind." you wouldn't post if you didn't hit a wall and if you were clear headed the effort would have clearly showed. the AA comment is just rediculous...OF COURSE you win fewer pots. but those you DO win will be monsterous) Barron |
