Re: Kicker counterfeited, then un-counterfeited
[ QUOTE ]
Is anyone tempted to checkraise? [/ QUOTE ] I'd be tempted, but I wouldn't do it. The likely hands for villian that we beat here are the same hands, for the most part, that are most likely to get checked through and the hands we're behind, we may to get 3-bet when we raise, which would really suck. We'll make less when we're ahead and lose more when we're behind compared to a bet/call line. |

if you would fold to a single bet, you might as well check/call. [/ QUOTE ] I disagree. Check-calling here really sucks. |

Re: Kicker counterfeited, then un-counterfeited
Bet - call is the only way to go here. Many A's will call here, and tricky opponents will bluff-raise the scare card.
Check-raising is not good here. This is a classic bet-counting situation. Betting out assures that 1-2 bets go in on the river. Checking leaves you vulnerable to 0 going in and opens up the possibility that 3 go in. If 3 go in you're f'ed. And check-raising and folding to a three-bet feels like getting kicked in the head. |

He could have a passivly played ace, but a busted flush draw (maybe missed broadway gutshot) is very possible since all he has done is call. Those hands can't pay you off if you bet and might well bluff. If he has an ace, there is a chance he will bet for you anyway thinking that your check means you have KK or somesuch. |

Thanks for the replies, fellas. I bet, he raised, I called and he showed KQ for rivered trips.
I asked about the checkraise because it seemed, thinking about the hand later, that it would have been fun to c/r a worse ace. But as many have said (and I think W. Deranged expressed most succinctly), I want one or two bets to go in on the river. In retrospect, it's a very simple hand. I appreciate the discussion. -McGee |

Re: Kicker counterfeited, then un-counterfeited
against a typical 3/6 opponent i bet/call or bet/fold. Bet fold works because river bluff raises are so incredibly rare at that level.
