Re: Tough Laydown......at least I think it was
I'd fold. I'm worried here that you'll be up against a pocket pair and the other guy will have one of your outs and add that to the possibility that you're up against KK or AA. Your stacks getting low with 11BB, but I'd wait for another spot where you can open the pot and you don't need to be as strong as AK.

Re: Tough Laydown......at least I think it was
I had the same train of thought as blockafor, mid pair(99) on pet monster and A10 or so on the original raiser(who claims to had another pair), so i let it go. The original raiser ended up folding. Pet Monster swears he had KK though, but we all know you can't always trust the word of a poker player. I don't know if it was a weak move or a brilliant laydown, but i managed to build up chips and make it to the final table and place 5th (had 10s cracked by q10....) Thanks for all the advice.

Re: Tough Laydown......at least I think it was
i muck it.
the allin is extremely likely to have a pocket pair. the first player could have a monster here, and if not, one of your outs is likely dead. there is one hand you are ahead of AQ, and it is not definite he makes this play with AQ, it was a UTG raise. at best you are a coinflip, which you would take if you knew it was. and there are many ways your are in very bad shape. raise and reraise, and it starting from early position makes AK not worth playing to me. i fold JJ too. |

[/ QUOTE ] I agree 100% with this analysis. I muck this as well against standard players (I may call it if I have solid reads). If the raisers weren't from early position, or if the all in player didn't re-raise a raise, I might give consideration to calling. Also, IMO this is the stage in the tournament to win a lot of uncontested pots, and would prefer to either save a chance for me to be the one pushing so I have FE as well with these blinds, or have QQ-AA if I'm calling off all my chips with that much early position action. -Rizen |
