Devil's advocacy here:

Aside from the spammy nature of the come-on and pointing someone to 2+2, wouldn't it be in our best interest for the producers of our games to receive rakeback? It would mean more money for them to dump back into the games anyway, right?

in all seriousness, when you see something like this, people should either refer someone to rakerebatereview, or to their own affiliate. fish getting money back is very good.

What's your problem with sharing the wealth of information? Should the doors to 2+2 and rakeback have been closed at the end of 2002 - 2003 - 2004 - what do you think?

Don't be so greedy. Of the thousands of players that have registered here, how many do you think actually learn to play well enough to beat you? Perhaps (as casinos found out after "Beat the dealer" came out in the 1960's) it's a lot better for all of us if more players "think" they are going to be able to beat the game and keep playing, instead of most of the losers quitting and never giving us any more money. What do you think?

That's when this potty guy chimed in and said it's not illegal and to go to 2+2 for the best deal.

[/ QUOTE ]

So the guy doesn't get ripped off and 2+2 gets some hits (and makes some money). Win/Win.

What is wrong with letting players know how rakeback works?
Surely the more players who have rakeback deals the better those deals will be in the future! The more cash in players
pockets the better it is for all players.

Ugh, I agree with the OP, here's the problem you're all failing to realize:

1. Yes, rakeback in the hands of losing players provides more income to the winning players

2. Affiliates who offer rakeback deals aren't interested in having losing players who are going to run away when their bankroll dries up. I would think an affiliate would be more than happy to point their sign-ups in the right directions towards improving their game, so that more hands are played and more rake generated.

I'd rather not have a repeat of Games Grid and the uber-tight tables full of 2+2ers. I don't approve of educating the fish about anything, rakeback or how to play the game well.

Grandgnu,, your statement makes no sense.
It either benefits good players or it does not.
Which one is it?
Your argument is an affiliate will train a bad poker player to be a good poker player?I do not think thats their buisness.

As I said in one of my other posts, I don't mind if people (or fish in this case) get rakeback. I just didn't want him to get it from the spammer so I gave the "sky is falling" approach while the spammer was trying to get this guy to IM him.

What I do have a problem with is another guy chiming in and saying go to 2plus2.

Some of you may not realize the money that is involved in poker because you're not that deep into it. There are many people on here on 2+2 that use poker as a huge supplement to income, to their only source of income.

Now will pointing some fish to 2+2 mean he's going to better his game? Not exactly... but why the hell do you even risk that? Why talk about books at the table? Why talk strat at the table? Why talk about software at the table? Why mention websites like 2+2 at the table?

It's just plain moronic.

It's really no biggie.
Most of the people who come here don't have the patience to read enough to improve their game, and most of those that do lack the discipline to implement what they've learned.

very well said. the state of online poker is giving many of us more money than we ever thought possible, at least for our current stage in life. why risk lowering the profitability? i have tuition to pay for.

and I doubt giving all the fish rake back is plus EV. While they could last longer at the tables, it has to increse the liklihood of RB getting nixed. And I am sure that my RB is worth more than a fish losing a bit more.

Just checked, month to date I've made $300 in micro limits, $200 in bonus at said micro limits, and another $50 in RB. Why in God's name would I want to get someone thinking since I know about RB/forums/books I MUST be able to play thus paying attention to how/why/when I raise/call/CR? That has to be -EV.
