With that being said, whats your plan of attack if the flop is A Q 5 rainbow w/ none of your suit. Original raiser leads and one of the CC'rs calls?

[/ QUOTE ]

Definitely peel. I think there's no debate on this one.

- You're getting something like 12:1 and almost closing the action (there may be a blind or two left to play and a check-raise is unlikely).
- A 5 may help you split the pot against AJ-A6 if you are chasing.
- CC may only have a queen
- PFR may be following through with KK or even JJ, hoping to pick up the pot right away.

Ya I'm definitely peeling, no question. Now lets go over a few situations that could come up on the turn...

A) J-Original raiser bets, CC folds, hero...
B) J-Original raiser bets, CC calls, hero...
C) J-Original raiser checks, CC bets, hero...
D) J-Original raiser checks, CC checks, hero...

hey Aaron,

I am surprised to see you say that. I thought this was a textbook example of an acceptable cold call. Maybe I'm wrong though, and I am going through the LAG phase of my Zee evolution.

We are all aware that JTs is perhaps the most overrated hand in hold em, but it is still a good hand. It's has some high card strength, is s00ted, and any straight it makes will be the nut straight. Of course I would RATHER have Axs where x > 7.

Just for the sake of discussion, what is the strongest hand you would not call here? I will respond in kind.

[/ QUOTE ]

Against a generic UTG+2 raiser and only two generic cold-callers, I can coldcall with pocket pairs. I'm in an excellent position to trap players for two or three bets on the flop. But I probably wouldn't coldcall anything else. I'm quite tight when it comes to cold-calling. I *REALLY* want multi-way action if I'm going to cold-call. I'm doing some 3-betting with KQs and AJs, unless the raiser is particularly tight, in which case I probably would cold-call.

Why did you only call this? I'd think this is an auto-raise.

Sometimes it's call down, sometimes it's fold... At this point, reads are too important. How aggressive is PFR? What are his raising standards? You need to be able to put villains on a range of hands to make better plays on later streets.

But I would have folded preflop and avoided this mess in the first place. If I had more players in preflop, the pot would be bigger, and calling down would be more correct. If you have no reads, then it doesn't really matter which you choose. Just pick one and go with it.

And you should recognize that this situation is far from the norm, as there are three broadway cards on the turn. That makes this more difficult since CC may have picked up a gutshot or two pair (QJ), making it harder to put him on a range of hands with his turn call.

You did notice that it was capped on the flop, right? Doesn't look like your J will hold up at showdown. The only thing I'm raising this turn w/ is a [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]

I think we are on the same page, though I might muck 22-55. I like suited broadways (obviously).

Of course it goes without saying that most hands I play here are getting 3 bet.

I really wouldn't be typing "party is rigged." It's a funny joke for all of in the know, but some people will believe you, and stop playing there.

Preflop is fine but I hate your flop cap.
