Re: Small blind defense plays
[ QUOTE ]
[ QUOTE ] Your right, it's great to create big pots and be out of position with hands that have horrible implied odds. [/ QUOTE ] Calling with 55 or 66 in this position is pretty bad (unless BB is super tight and will fold a lot from the BB for 1 bet). Investing that extra SB has a great chance of eliminating BB. We want to play a hand like 55 HU, it has good showdown value against a 25% ASB CO raiser. Same goes for A9-ATo. This is not a spot to play 55 for implied odds anyways. We can usually make up the extra SB invested with postflop play by playing this hand HU. [/ QUOTE ] Thats right -- I forgot BB might tag along more often if we call. I'm liking the 3bet more now. |

Your right, it's great to create big pots and be out of position with hands that have horrible implied odds. [/ QUOTE ] You don't understand. You want to seize the initiative with hands that play very well HU and have showdown value against an wide range of stealing hands and you want to make sure that the BB gets out. Implied odds and big pots don't matter when you have a very good chance of getting the flop HU, and since you have far too much of a hand to fold in each case you want to take control. Let me be more specific, you want to fold A9o/ATo and call with T9s. This is totally bass-akward. |
