Re: NYC vegeterians
For Vegeterian (Vegan actually), I agree with Turnipmonster, Hangawi is amazing. Best place I know of.
Ethiopian restaurants are great for Vegeterian. Upper East Side, The Ethiopian Restaurant is great and has a catchy name. West Side and Downtown Meskerem and Meskerem II are great. I also eat a lof of Thai vegeterian food, but haven't found any great Thai restaurants in NY. |

One warning- Hangawi is way more expensive than every other vegetarian restaurant on the planet. |

[/ QUOTE ] I called them for reservations and they don't take reservations for the same day on weekends. I work close by so I'm going to go there now and see if I can slip them a $20 to get on the list. I see they're also open for lunch on the weekends so that's another possiblity. |

Re: NYC vegeterians
As a former New Yorker I would have to say the best Thai food place I went to was in Brooklyn, right on Sheepshead Bay. They re-developed that area a few years back and opened an excellent Thai place along the strip (somewhere after El Greco diner). Check it out if you have a chance, you won't be disappointed!
(Note, while I'm sure they have vegetarian dishes - this is not a vegetarian establishment). |
