Anyone out there have an opinion on what % of the time a good winning player should finish 1st, 2nd, etc in low limit SNGs? ($10 and $20)

A general comment about ITM...
Don't put too much stock in the ITM. Someone can have an low ITM 20%, but make more than someone with an ITM of 30% if he has a high percentage of 1st place finishes. If you're getting a 40% ITM, you're doing great!!

[/ QUOTE ]

Your general point is valid, but your details are wrong. There's no way you can make more with an ITM of 20% than with an ITM of 30%. Do you see why?

itm 20% 100% 1sts -> 10 buyins, net -> down the rake
itm 30% 100% 3rds -> 6 buyins, net -> down 4 buyins + the rake

...

citanul

a better statement would have been "you cannot turn a profit with a 20% itm, you can with a 30% itm," i think?

My statement is fine. You cannot make more with a 20% ITM than you can with a 30% ITM. But yes, you are right, it is possible to lose less.

Also, if you haven't already, download Aleo's awsome spreadsheet. It will help you keep track of ITM, ROI and lots of other useful info.

Good luck,
Steve
