Why? There is no sure thing in poker why would you put it all on one hand? Isn't this mistake we learned from the movie Rounders?

I bet the dividing line on call or fold is less related to "pro" or "amateur" than it is on Limit player and NL player.
note.....I say this without even looking at alot of the replies or trying to ascertain who is a limit and who is a NL player. So take the above statement with a grain of salt. |

For those of you who would not do it(including me. What percentage of your bankroll would you risk on AA preflop.

For those of you who would not do it(including me. What percentage of your bankroll would you risk on AA preflop. [/ QUOTE ] If my memory of Kelly is right (to maximize bankroll) 2 x (chance - 50). So if chance (of winning with Aces) is 80%, then 2 x (80-50) =60% or bankroll. Those who rely on bankroll to survive would risk less. Those who "set aside" part of their bankroll for this, that, or the other, and have other income, may risk more. The question becomes, "What is your penalty for losing?" |

[/ QUOTE ] Correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't Kelly assume that your win rate is proportional to your bankroll? This makes sense in blackjack or sports betting where you can make the same plays and simply wager more. In poker, however, you can't necessarily just sit in a bigger game to double your win rate. So thoeritically poker players should want to risk a smaller percentage, no? |

I know I would risk less than 60% of my bankroll on this proposition. |
