AKo flops overcards
PokerStars 0.25/0.50 Hold'em (10 handed) FTR converter on zerodivide.cx
Preflop: Hero is MP2 with K[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], A[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]. CO posts a blind of $0.35. 2 folds, UTG+2 raises, 1 fold, Hero 3-bets, 1 fold, CO (poster) caps, 3 folds, UTG+2 calls, Hero calls. Did CO get dealt a real hand right out of the gate? What range of hands do you put him on? I felt AA/KK/QQ/AKs all very possible. JJ and TT I guess also possible. Flop: (13.80 SB) 9[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], 5[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], 3[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] (3 players) UTG+2 checks, Hero checks, CO bets, UTG+2 folds, Hero calls. I called getting 14.8:1 as Im not ready to abandon my stake in this pot as of yet. Turn: (7.90 BB) K[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] (2 players) Hero checks, CO bets, Hero calls. I was going to c/r the turn after the K hit but here was what I was thinking in the heat of battle. If he has AA Im drawing slim. If he has KK Im drawing dead but I felt this hand probably not likely. If he has a hand lower than my K's he will be drawing slim and I don't want to lose him. With AK we split. River: (9.90 BB) 8[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] (2 players) Hero checks, CO bets, Hero calls. Thanks for any thoughts on this one. Final Pot: 11.90 BB |

Re: AKo flops overcards
Looks good. If the person is not very aggressive, though, you're beat. And he probably doesn't have KK since there are only two kings left in the deck. I expect you'll get shown AK here more often than not.

I would have bet the riv. Looks good otherwise.

Re: AKo flops overcards
I'm probably betting the turn and calling down a 3-bet.

Re: AKo flops overcards
Seems to me your logic on the flop and turn contradict each other. If you can't count the K as an out on the turn then what did you think your outs were on the flop? If your only out on the flop is an A then you have 3 outs which is just barely enough to call getting 14.8: 1 (break even odds 14.3:1), but if the A outs aren't clean and you don't think the K outs are clean then you might be better off folding.
That said I think you are giving CO alot of credit here and if you are not pretty sure he has AA or KK I think your line is good. |

Re: AKo flops overcards
On the flop I gave myself about 4 outs. .5 for each overcard and another 1 for the nut backdoor flush.

Re: AKo flops overcards
I don't think you need to worry about outs too much here. I think a good percent of the time villain has AK and you split. So folding would be a big mistake.

[ QUOTE ]
I would have bet the riv. Looks good otherwise. [/ QUOTE ] I'm thinking that a check on the river is the best option, b/c Hero is always calling a raise. If you think he caps preflop and calls the river more than 50% with QQ, JJ, TT a bet is fine. If he doesn't cap TT - he has to call 66% of the time with QQ, JJ. If his capping range is AK+, AA, KK, QQ. A bet on the river is - EV. |
