Lost with Overpair vs Preflop Raiser
I felt lost on all post-flop streets. Is calling down the right strategy here? Anywhere I should raise (or fold)? Bet when checked to on the river?
MP3 seems to raise PF a little more than normal, but I haven't seen him show any trash yet. Paradise Poker No-Limit Hold'em, $0.25 BB (9 handed) converter BB ($23.75) UTG ($16.45) UTG+1 ($19.85) MP1 ($23.35) MP2 ($13.85) MP3 ($32.70) Hero ($50.45) Button ($20.60) SB ($27.80) Preflop: Hero is CO with J[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], J[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]. Re: Lost with Overpair vs Preflop Raiser
Re-raise PF to thin out the field a little more. I play this hand the exact same way afterwards.

Re: Lost with Overpair vs Preflop Raiser
Fold this flop, even though you said villain had a wide range of hands with which to make a pfr, it still suggests at least one overcard. The fact that villain did not shy away from an all suited flop and took a hard line the whole way is bad news, it typically means that overcard is one you don't want to see. The Flush draw is the only option I see here, and you are only behind 3 holdings, but that is enough for this weak-tight jackass donk to fold.

Definitely reraise preflop. The hand would play completely differently afterwards.

[/ QUOTE ] Reraising preflop would certainly make things play completely differently, although I don't know if it would be better for us. Reraising with JJ is a difficult proposition. What better hands fold and what worse hands call? I prefer a call or raise with JJ preflop, but I'm willing to be convinced that a reraise can be +EV. Help me understand. |

[/ QUOTE ] This was my thinking as well. Against normal players, I do not reraise JJ. Against a PF LAG, I will reraise. Villian here was somewhat liberal with PF raises, but not too far out of line. I'd be interested in hearing further about what others feel about reraising PF w/JJ. Is this something a lot of folks do??? |
