can't see too much danger here... very likely your chopping or have him outkicked...

I would check-call the flop and turn and bet/call the river. Seems like the standard line for this situation.

I say cap the flop and lead turn. The board is pretty safe unless villain has AA or 99. He could easily have something like KQd, AK, AQ, AJ, or TT-KK.
I think the turn check-raise is pretty good too, and the fact that he doesn't 3-bet says you're probably ahead. |

yes... i think it extracted full value from the hand.. and you have to feel good after the flat call...

What kinds of hands are we up against here against a 16/12 tag which: 1. Give us that much action? 2. Aren't either beating us or tied? You think we get that many bets from KK? Really? The point is that playing this hand super aggressively like this is generally going to fold out a lot of worse hands against a TAG (it's a lesser consideration against someone who sucks), and costs us a lot of money when villain has AA for the cooler. Just because we have such a strong hand does not mean that unbridled aggression is going to win the most money... (This hand, fwiw, is a very good example of why I DO NOT believe that wa/wb has to be reserved for situations where it's roughly 50/50 we're ahead or behind. Here's we're ahead a ton of the time but the line that probably extracts max. value will often be check-call, check-call, bet). |

Re: I had the ace of hearts and the king of clubs in this hand.
Your turn check-raise seems pretty dubious to me. If he has a big pocket pair and he chooses to 3-bet the flop, there's a good chance he's planning to check behind on the turn and call a river bet no matter what hits. Too risky.
I know there's only 1 combination of aces, but after he caps preflop and 3-bets the flop, check-raising the turn seems designed to get lots of money in only when you are way behind. Capping the flop and leading the turn seems MUCH better to me. This gives him the chance to get stubborn with those kings and queens and never lets him have the opportunity to showdown cheap. The way this hand went down, I'd guess you chopped with another AK. good luck. eric |

value will often be check-call, check-call, bet [/ QUOTE ] Yuck. I agree that the turn check-raise is bad, but this line is way too passive. Few players release kings to a flop raise, so the flop raise is almost mandatory. This is doubly true in this hand, where there is a 3rd player in the pot who must not be allowed to draw cheap. -Eric |
