Quick question. (LC)
I would like you guys to settle a silly arguement for me.
My brother-in-law thinks I made the wrong play. Limit 1/2 Pokerstars (10-handed). Just sat at the table. Hero BB with A9s. UTG +2 raises PF, folded to me in the BB. I fold. My brother-in-law points out I have no reads on the table. Says he would call 100% of the time. Who's play is correct and why. Thanks |

Re: Quick question. (LC)
yours is...you have incorrect pot odds and little implied odds. You highly risk domination and will at best be forced to play a marginal hand OOP.

Re: Quick question. (LC)
Pretty much everytime someone who reads 2+2 comes here and posts a question and starts it with "My brother/friend/laywer/mother-in-law/ferret/therapist said my fold was wrong," the poster was usually right. You can use that as a general rule if you'd like.

Re: Quick question. (LC)
Thanks for your quick reply.
My reasons for folding were exactly the same as you stated. His reply to your reply was "You have to defend your big blind." I've been trying forever to get him to read SSHE and read these forums so he'd understand concepts like these. At least he sees I'm not talking out my ass for folding my BB lol. |

Re: Quick question. (LC)
C'mon man, you got an ACE!! An ACE is the BEST CARD!! And if you catch an ace on the flop, you'll have a PAIR of ACES!!
DUUUUDE!!!!1!11 Seriously, you've got a hand that, chances are, UTG already has beat. No one else called, so you have no odds to try and spike two pair/set of 9s. Good fold. |

You are either way behind, or a bit ahead - drawing to 3 outs (if he has KK and lower). And you are o.o.p. Dumping the hand was a good play. |

Thanks for your quick reply. My reasons for folding were exactly the same as you stated. His reply to your reply was "You have to defend your big blind." [/ QUOTE ] You also have to defend your bank roll! Which is a quite a bit bigger than a big blind. You defend it by folding A9s to a raise, and in these circumstances. I would fold this against loose raisers. |
