Unimproved AKo in a huge pot....did I play it right?
B&M game at a local riverboat casino.
Table has been pretty loose passive with an average of 5+ players seeing each flop. 4-8 Holdem UTG live straddles for $8 UTG+2 cold calls two bets. In MP I look down at A [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]K [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] and raise it to 12. The guy in the cutoff makes it $16 to go. UTG calls two more bets, and the EP caller caps it at $20. Everyone calls the cap. Flop comes (pot has 21.5 SB) T [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]2 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]9 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] UTG checks EP bets $4 I call CO calls UTG calls Turn comes (12.75 BB) 9 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] UTG checks EP bets $8 I call CO raises to $16 UTG folds EP calls I call River comes (18.75 BB) 9 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] EP checks I check CO bets $8 EP calls I call Total pot $150 Results in white below EP shows KK for a full house 9's over K's I of course have AKo for just trip nines CO shows Q9o for quad nines Would you have played this differently? |

did I play it right? [/ QUOTE ] no. I would call the river if I managed to get down to the river UI in that spot, but besides that it was pretty bad. |

[/ QUOTE ] Could you please be more specific? Would you have folded on the flop? The turn? Before the flop? Just saying "it was pretty bad" isn't going to help me improve my game any. |

you're crushed and it's obvious, but big pot, so i think i'd look at the turn. everything after that is just money in the lake. even if you hit your out, you might still be dead.

[/ QUOTE ] In retrospect I think you're right. When the board paired on the turn that pretty much sealed my fate. (that and the raise that accompanied it) I was alive until then though IMHO. |

CO's raise indicates you are crushed are are highly unlikely to have odds to continue. You should have definitly folded at that point.

[/ QUOTE ] you played it right until the turn. you should call the flop bet because you have good equity in the pot but you should fold the turn if you are unimproved against this many players. |
