Re: 60 Minutes features on online gambling tonight 7PM EST...
[ QUOTE ]
[ QUOTE ] Legalization without government regulation of internet gambling is invariably good for all parties involved. [/ QUOTE ] FYP [/ QUOTE ] This is correct, but legal with liscencing and regulation is better than illegal. If the regulation becomes burdensome we can still play at the overseas sites. |

Yeah, Kyl is one of those good small government Republicans... you know, the kind that only wants government small enough to monitor your every move, fit inside a woman's uterus and Terry Shaivo's hospital room, and make sure you pray to (the protestand version of) Jesus Christ on a regular basis.

That quote illustrates the most annoying part of what was otherwise a pretty good take on something that is normally ridiculously butchered in the mainstream press. It was of course not without its flaws.

[/ QUOTE ] Here here. The party totally lost itself some time ago. At some point the religious puritans took over . . . the party is supposed to stand for smaller government and personal freedom. Just goes to show, power always leads to efforts to control and expand that power. |

[ QUOTE ] Don't you think if a kid uses his parents' credit card it should be the parents' fault and not the site? This seems obvious to me. [/ QUOTE ] It's America, parents don't take responsibility for anything. [/ QUOTE ] You think? |

Did anyone tape this?
I missed this, but I'm doing my 3L writing requirement on the topic of the legality of online gambling, and would really like a chance to watch this. Did anyone tape this?

Re: 60 Minutes features on online gambling tonight 7PM EST...
By the same logic, all e-commerce and stock-trading on the internet should be banned too.
If a teenager can get a hold of a credit-card or checkbook then it would not be too difficult to set up an account at e-trade, or buy some really expensive items on ebay or cars.com or amazon or best-buy or some clothing chain or wherever. Obviously an irresponsible kid with their parents' credit-card is dangerous. Online-gambling is not unique in this respect. edit - I missed the 60 minutes piece because I was out this evening..but am glad to hear that the reviews from the 2+2'ers are mostly positive and that the report wasn't TOO negative much of the time. Equally pleased to hear that Ky looked like something of an idiot. Good news. My Dad had seen the commercials for this 60 minutes and was looking forward to watching it so I look forward to his non-poker-player opinions on the piece. |
