Re: when do i stop?
Number one factor in all of this is the opponent you're up against. Against certain players I will only go so far, 2 or 3 bets. Then against others, I cap. One big hand I had a while ago I really regretted later not re-re-raising later after I found out the guy was just not very smart at all with his raising. IE the guy just kept throwing out bets/raises/re-raises with good hands but not monsters.

Re: when do i stop?
well i was playing at the soaring eagle casino in mt. pleasant michigan. he looked half way like he knew what he was doin putting in his re raises without thinking about it. it was friday night and the game was very soft i think i prolly will go around 10 bets or so next time. this has led me to thinking what party would be like if there was unlimited raiseing heads up and how it would effect your earn rate, 50bb pots?

Re: when do i stop?
you don't stop... keep raising until you or him or all-in.
and if he has quads big deal. Just pretend like it was on a no-limit table. |

this has led me to thinking what party would be like if there was unlimited raiseing heads up and how it would effect your earn rate, 50bb pots? [/ QUOTE ] without a doubt. crypto has unlimited heads-up raising like this and sometimes it can get really wacky. cubswin posted a low-limit ($2 bets or something I guess) 7-card stud hand where I think both players were on 4th street with virtual crap and had raised it to $34 and $36 dollars or something like that. I've had a few hands on crypto where I was pretty happy they had the unlimited, heads-up raising...although nothing in the department of the huge 50x-raises you dream about. What sometimes happens: 3/6 game...player is steaming and has $42 left on the river or something...he's half-way planning on leaving anyway out of frustration...and half-way just wants to do a hail-mary...so he just keeps raising and re-raising until he has $0. It's sometimes a tricky read...but if I think the opponent is fishy and tilting and just trying to leave then I will re-raise all the way with some semi-marginal stuff (considering the situation) sometimes. |

Re: when do i stop?
ive never played there, i think its the only poker network i havnt played on. the only problem i see with unlimited raiseing is 2 morons going at it with the same nut straight.party would never do it because it would take away from the number of hands delt per hour.

Re: when do i stop?
He would have raised you by the turn with 44. So you can be 99% sure he doesn't have that. So I'd go to the felt here.

However you throw this assumption to the wind when you try to raise him 20x on the river. Suddenly he's an illogical fish. You're reasoning seems flawed. |

Re: when do i stop?
This story is 100% true. I can have other on the board verify this. I was playing at Ceasars IN a couple months ago when a drunk woman sat down to play. On a board of A3397 I put in 30 bets on the river with A3. Around the 20th or so bet I thoughts he might have a better full house, but she was to much of a donkey to stop raising. When I was finally all in she flipped up J high and said she thought she could bluff me out.

Re: when do i stop?
no way i would go more than 5 bets with that hand on that board. dont u think after 10 or 15 bets she may have 7's or 9's or aa? 30 bets has to be horrible play.

Re: when do i stop?
[ QUOTE ]
If you're paraniod at all about someone having quads when you have a full house that inlcudes a big pocket pair then you'll never make as much as you should at this game. You should've kept raising him down to the felt. [/ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] Yeah I can't really see not raising till I'm all in or he folds. The quads are so rare that you don't really have to worry about it unless you can get a read on the guy, but like you said he was a new player. [/ QUOTE ] You need to think a little deeper than "OMFG! I have kings full. I need to get it all in." This isn't no limit. Your opponent has control over how many bets go in. You can only put in the 20th bet if your opponent is willing to put in the 19th. What you need to ask yourself is, what will my opponent put in the 19th bet with? If I'm against the tightest rock in the world who WILL NOT under any circumstances raise without the absolute nuts, then putting in a 3rd bet on a K7442 board with KK is -EV. On the other hand, if I'm playing against someone who doesn't look at his cards, there's no way I'm not putting it all in with AK on a AJ962 board. |
