Re: what is optimal VP$P for NL?
"It depends."
I'm getting tired of these types of answwers by posters. That tells us nothing. Generally, I'm sure there's an area you want to aim for...such as 15-20% I imagine. Sure if you're at a loose table loosen up a bit, but just saying "it depends" achieves nothing imo. |

Re: what is optimal VP$P for NL?
loosen up a lose game? i thought that optimal strategy was to play tighter at loose games and looser at tight games or does that also "depend"? lol
ive been playin 6max a lot so you gotta play a bit looser. is 30-35 still too much for 6max? |

Re: what is optimal VP$P for NL?
$50 NL tables (Full Ring) the optimal appears to be about 25% but that is on a per table basis.
This is based on AP10's 120K+ DB as analysed here: http://www.andymcnish.btinternet.co.uk/newauto.htm If you want to multitable say 4+ at once it's going to be easier to play tighter. At higher levels the optimal Vp$iP% drops (as there are less super-loose players and so it becomes harder to make +EV with the more marginal hands). |

Re: what is optimal VP$P for NL?
it depends on many variables that OP never stated. you're right i could have said 20% is optimal vpip in NL but then i would have been wrong. some other info would be nice such as average stack sizes, size of hero's br (in buyins), level of aggression on the table, stakes being played, is hero multitabling, hero's proficiency in NL and poker in general, 6max or full ring etc.

Re: what is optimal VP$P for NL?
i loosen up when playing against calling stations and versus smarter opponents so that my hand range doesn't look so static.

30 VPIP will allow you to crush the game IF you're playing with idiots. 20-25 VPIP - and you will be comfortable in any game...
