Takin\' it on the Road: Portable 21\" Monitor?
Ah, the life of an online poker pro.
Give me my laptop and a broadband connection anywhere in the world and I'm a money-making machine, the world my ATM. Not quite. I need a 21" UXGA monitor to multitable, and as far as I know there aren't any portables. Could try to stick my ViewSonic in a suitcase, maybe pack it in the original styrofoam and hope for the best. Not very practical. Maybe someone makes a high-end laptop with a UXGA screen I'm not aware of? Some of you must have faced this same problem. Any solutions? |

There are plenty of laptops that offer UXGA displays on 15", 17", or 19" screens.

Dell 9300 w/ WUXGA screen, noob.
Or the Dell 6000 for slightly more portability. But get the 9300 for sheer "i have a small penis" compensatory effect. |

They are SXGA (1280 x 1024), insufficient for 4-tabling Party. You need UXGA (1600 x 1200). WUXGA is overkill, but if that's the only choice, so be it. Five grand sound about right? The new hi-def DVD's will sure look nice on it. :-) |

1000 max... Look on the Dell site for the basic monitor and customize it for an upgrade in screen. The upgrade should be about $250, so do that on a basic $800 laptop and there you go.

My IBM T42 laptop does 1600X1200 so does by Sony GRX500 from three years ago.

Re: Takin\' it on the Road: Portable 21\" Monitor?
I have had one of these for three months now. I travel very often for work, and this was meant to be my "business" laptop. However, the thing is so damned nice I have begun using it as my primary computer (my desktop sits collecting dust). The display is 1680x1050, widescreen. You can fit four tables on it with only a very slight overlap. I am planning on getting a 2001fp soon so i can 6- and 8-table, but for now, I am very happy playing my 30000+ hands per month exclusively on this machine.

I have the Dell 6000, but that IBM thinkpad is what I would've rather gotten, if it weren't so expensive.

When I go back to the parent's house for winter break I'll just put my 2001FP back in the original styrofoam and box. Shouldn't have any problems.
