Help Me Buy A TV
So I need a new TV, and I want to get something pretty damn good but I don't want to break the bank. I've seen that there are basically 3 classes of TVs now: Plasma, Flatscreen LCD, and LCD projection TVs.
From what I can tell, the Flatscreen LCDs have the best picture but are also the most expensive (Sony 40" which is the most crystal clear thing I've ever seen costs $3500) whereas LCD Projection TVs offer good quality and quite a bit of size for a lower price (Sony Wega 3LCD projection TV 60" costs $3150, 55" $2700). Plasmas run about $4K for a 50" LG or Panasonic. I'm the kind of guy who thinks bigger is better, but at the same time I want a really clear picture. I want to spend a reasonable amount of money, because I would feel weird spending $5K on a TV when I just paid $18K for my car (although if the TV is "worth it" then $5K is not a problem and I would pay it happily for the right TV). Any thoughts? Every time I go to Circuit City I leave more confused than when I got there... |

Re: Help Me Buy A TV
just bought an olevia 37" LCD for about $1500 with stand -- these probably don't have the most amazing picture but from a value standpoint they're one of the best brands

There's a really good thread on this a while back. You should try and find it.
