Micro Hi: 2 hands w/ thoughts ... need help
Yeah, reads would help. But I spend my time reading 2+2 in btwn hands. Still a couple days into Stud, so I don't know regulars if there are any.

Re: Micro Hi: 2 hands w/ thoughts ... need help
Hand 1:
- Third street: Seat 5 almost indefinitely has tens and bet because of the dead queen in seat 4, thinking you didn't have a pair of queens. Seat 1 should have hole cards AA/KK/A8/K8 to keep playing, and since he just called, I'd figure A8/K8 more probable (AA or KK is still a possibility, but normally you would raise to thin out the field, as these hands are especially vulnerable unimproved). - Fourth street: A flashing sign should be right in front of you saying fold. Seat 1 has big two-pair at worst, or has three of a kind. Your dead queen is now immensely valuable in either case, and your chances of drawing out on seat 1 are minimal. Folding (it seems to me) is clearly the best option. - Fifth street: At this point your psychologically sucked in. 9.4-to-1 pot odds looks seductive enough to call, but think about this in terms of effective odds: 11.4-to-3 (3.8-to-1) effective odds. Doesn't look too good now (note that I didn't account for seat 4 calling any of the bets; he can drop out at any time). By now, your best chance is simply to catch that last queen and pray that it's good. Your call on fourth has put you in this precarious situation. Sixth Street: Whatever you put him on at 3rd street (AA/KK/A8/K8/AK even) you're beat. Badly. Fold. This first hand shows the vulnerable position you put yourself in when you play hands that are partially dead. This hand is simply to sexy to fold on third, although some might recommend folding third. Second hand: Third street: I never complete. I figure usually one of the players usually gets froggy and raises, at which point I reraise. If your table is especially passive, completing might be the best play. Fourth-Fifth streets are standard. Get as much money into the pots with what seems to be the best hand Sixth street: You feel that? That's the feeling of the deck continually bricking you out. It's very possible that one of them simply has two-pair, but I would think it's more likely that the open queens has trip queens. The fact that your between open queens and open tens is troubling, because there is a real possibility of a raising war between those two players will make me fold this hand here 98% of the time. If you have a solid read that they simply have two-pair or even just a pair, call and hope for that two-pair/trips to hit on seventh. Get the Kleenex ready for a crying call. Seventh Street: (1) If you make two-pair, call a single bet. (2) If you make trips, raise. If reraised, call. (3) If you brick out, fold. As you play more, you can get a feel of how your opponents play, and use these to augment your reads. When a hand reaches showdown and you see something peculiar (read extremely donkish: he calls a raise cold on third with A94 rainbow) take notes and remember during the pots you play. |

I like Nanos analysis, but I wouldn’t fold 6th streets in the first hand. The pot is too large to fold imo. I would also call the river UI.

My thoughts on 6th St (Hand 1) was that this guy bet into two players three times, so I gave him credit for a hand. Of course, w/ no read I don't know if he may have been donking around or not. |

On 5th, he picks up an OESD. Nice! Bet. On 6th, he picks up an ace kicker. Nice! Bet. Just one way you could be winning. |
