Re: Some Strange Situations at MCC last night (B+M etiquette)
I agree with the posts about IWTSHC.
What do people think about players who are called down, refuse to roll their cards until the player that called shows and then muck their hands. Is it reasonable to ask to see their cards, since they were called and are supposed to show first? (sidenote - I think slow rollers are even more nitty than IWTSHC. If you have a winning hand you should be gracious enough not to let someone else think theu have a winner for 15-30 seconds. If someone pays to see you then you should flip quickly unless you want to muck unseen and concede the hand). |

Re: Some Strange Situations at MCC last night (B+M etiquette)
Thanks. Very good explaination. There is lots of IWTSTH at our home games and since we are all freinds we can say "Get #$%@ed" in a really nice way and no one really cares. For those of us who do not live near the casinos and rarely get the chance to play in them, this sort of thing helps to explain a set of social rules that we are not familiar with.
I know it gets irritating to read the same questions over and over. thanks for having patience. |

Re: Some Strange Situations at MCC last night (B+M etiquette)
slow rollers are the lowest forms of life, and moifications to the banning of the IWTSTH rule may apply. It is situation dependent. One time I was at the table with the worst slow roller ever in the history of the world. And he was on a rush. He would catch runner-runner for the nuts and then do the worst ever slow rolls. he slow rolled me a time or two. A while later we got to the river, he bet, I called. He wouldn't show. I finally said to him that I would sit there forever and would not release my hand, and would not show it first. Under no circumstances would I show first. They could ban me, pick me up, whatever, but I would leave with my cards in my hand. The dealer didn't say jack because everybody knew how bad this other guy was. After maybe 15-20 seconds which seemed like an hour he showed runner runner mortal nuts and I mucked.

Re: Worst Slow role)
I dealt to a guy who is always slow roling and had this situation:
Two players at showdown, the other player shows his hand and this guy picks up his cards and looks at them one at a time shuffling them in front of his eyes. I say "Show them or Muck Them sir" He says "time". I said "You can't have Time". He says "why not?" I say "The game is over show them or muck them." he stares at me like I'm speaking a foreign language. "FLOOR !!!!!" Just as the floor gets to the table he turns over the nuts. I tell the floor what just happened and the Player says "Why can't I do that? Its the best part of Poker." I swear if I was a player in that game I would have punched him. |

IN that game they dont' slow roll, but they "sweat" the last card if they were all in before fifth street. |

Re: Worst Slow role)
ok, im a bit of a noob, and a lot of a nooob when it comes to live games. i understand what slow-rolling is and why its bad, but i dont understand how it happens.
it seems simple to me. you call someone, they show, you muck if you are behind, you show if you are infront. on occasion you will show when you are behind for sh!ts and giggles, table image or whatever. ive only played in a casino a couple of times, but i dont understand how if you call someone at showdown you would ever show your cards first... |

Re: Worst Slow role)
Here's one for you.
I'm playing $4-$8 and pick up KK I bet it the whole way and get called by an old woman. On the River the Ace falls and I bet out $8. She calls by throwing out two red chips. As soon as she calls I flip up my hand and look at her and say "You have the Ace" She doesn't turn over her cards, instead she looks at the dealer, points at her chips and says "Change". The dealer says lets see them. She points and demands her change. She will not flip over her hand or muck it until she gets her change. This should mean I won, why would she want change if she won. Dealer gives her change and she flips her hand over with the Ace in it. |
