Re: Yet another tipping situation

[ QUOTE ] I don't tip. I don't believe in it. [/ QUOTE ] What do you want him to do, take you out back and suck your dick? [/ QUOTE ] I'd go over 12 percent for that. |

Re: Yet another tipping situation
[ QUOTE ]
A friend of mine is playing in the 4/8 game at Canterbury Park. He tips an orange chip (50 cents) per pot. He tosses the dealer a chip. The dealer tosses it back and says "I don't take those". MY friend replies, "well that's kind of insulting." Dealer says, "I didn't mean for it to be insulting, I just don't take those." Thoughts? [/ QUOTE ] i would take the chip back, say nothing. and then when i would got home i would go online to make sure that the official US currency is still dollars and realize that 50 cents is still money and then i would wonder why he hated money... rj |

Re: Yet another tipping situation
That dealer would have received two tips from me, His first and his last.

That dealer would have received two tips from me, His first and his last. [/ QUOTE ] Agreed. I tip whenever I win a pot (as long as we see a flop) and regardless of the tip amount, I have never seen a dealer that was so high-n-mighty to refuse it. Who the hell does he think he is? Wow. Never would tip him/her again. Unbelieveable. |

Re: Yet another tipping situation
I don't get it.
It seems your friend tokes orange chips and this dealer just informed him that he'd rather not be tipped if the chip is orange. So don't toke him. Problem solved. |

Re: Yet another tipping situation
Your friend sucks donkey nuts and I'm glad that the dealer had the dignity to refuse his pathetic attempt at a tip.

Re: Yet another tipping situation
How much would you tip in a 4-8 game?
My normal toke is $1. If the dealer is exceptionally good I toke $2. But I play much higher limits. I also play professionally, which means toking and rake costs me close to $30,000.00 per year. I don't think people (especially dealers), realize that. .50 cents seems reasonable to me for a 4-8 game. |

Re: Yet another tipping situation
That's called overhead. Some people pay rent and employees. Cost of doing business. No dealers no poker rooms, you'd be out of a job. At least these employees you don't have to provide the health insurance.

Re: Yet another tipping situation
I know all about overhead. And I wasn't complaining, just making a point which a lot of non-pros don't consider. But...
No dealers no poker rooms, you'd be out of a job. You've got it backwards. No PLAYERS no poker rooms and DEALERS are the ones without a job. This would be nothing more than a minor inconvenience to me. |
