Re: Which of These Causes You the Most Problems
I keep playing games I cant beat...yet I play them...so its discpline and lack of knowledge for me...I think its discpline first since nobody that posts regularly can beat every game in the world.

Re: Which of These Causes You the Most Problems
Definitely tilt. Not full-bore steaming mad chasing down my losses tilt. The tired, pissed at my wife, kid wrecked the car but luckily wasn't hurt, too many onions on that last chili dog shouldn't be playing because I'm not in a peaceful focused frame of mind and too off-kilter to objectively recognize it kind of tilt. The kind that doesn't knock you off your stack, just slowly erodes it all day long.

"Faulty Reads" is the respectable big brother to "Tilt." Why did I put the other guy all in when I had TPTK and there were 3 spades on the board? Because I was sure there was no way he had a flush. And even if he did, my push would surely represent to him that I had the nut flush. Boy was I stunned when he called and showed down the A-high flush himself. But was I on tilt? No sir, no sir, no sir. [/ QUOTE ] I dont call that tilt. Call it error or misjudgement. Tilt is more than one mistake for me. |

You didnt put lack of aggression. I wanted to vote for that, but since that wasnt available I went for lack of knowledge because there are some odds I really dont know.

[ QUOTE ]
I tried to separate Tilt from Poor Discipline to force it to be a category of its own, but I suppose some lumped it into Poor Discipline and therefore chose that over Tilt. [/ QUOTE ] that is a good separation. i think i have good discipline, but still a tilt problem (voted for tilt). my solution: i quit when i am angry and make the first major mistake (that's why i don't play right now btw ). |

[ QUOTE ]
I chose "Overall lack of knowledge" because to me, it is the same thing as "all of the above". [/ QUOTE ] I voted Tilt, but I think imma change my decesion to Lack of Knowledge because that is what it ulimately boils down to...you can never know enough.... |

Re: Which of These Causes You the Most Problems
Wow before I voted I thought the answers would be 80% tilt 20% everything else, at least. Very surprising.

Re: Which of These Causes You the Most Problems
At times I can have extreme difficulty controlling my emotions, at which point I begin making irrational decisions (tilt). I think I play opitimal poker when I'm level headed, but one bad hand can set me off at which point a dangerous snowball effect can occur. Tilt is very -EV for me.
