Playing in a mixed game...
What type of players do you think excel in "mixed games"? I love playing mixed games (legitimate games / no wild card crap) and I find it hard to find anyone playing mixed games less than $60/120 at the casino.
I think a mixed game would really exploit the donkeys... why isn't there a push to make mixed games, hold'em-stud-omaha-draw, more accessible. |

Re: Playing in a mixed game...
It would be hard to get these going because of their varied nature. There'd be lots of mistakes by dealers who are on autopilot and not realizing they are dealing omaha, not 7stud, this hand. Then there'd be the issue of ignorant players. Seriously, at all limits you run into people (inexperienced, drunk or whatever) who can't figure out that you bet x on the first streets and 2x on the following streets. These people would definitely not excel at a mixed game, and you'd end up playing the players who were good enough to play these games, which wouldn't be a very efficient way to make money. Just my thoughts anyway.

Re: Playing in a mixed game...
While I have played in some smaller mixed games (isn't there a 40-80 mixed at the Bellagio these days?) my experience is that lower limit players tend to be "specialists" (if you can call it that). They barely know HE, stud, or Omaha much less HE, stud, AND Omaha. Those people will not sit down in a mixed game.

Re: Playing in a mixed game...
I thought I heard of a poker site that offers dealer's choice games online, but I can't remember which one. Anyone out there know which one I'm thinking of??

It's often O8, 2-7TD, and Stud H/L, although I've seen a few variations. I also know MGM had a 10/20 mixed game running at one point. I don't know if that was temporary or it still goes, however. I haven't been over there in nearly two months. |
