Anyone ever played the game "oh hell". It probably has other names as well. It's basically a whist game where you have to call out how many tricks you are going to take once you see your hand. After each round is played out you get points only if you win the exact amount of tricks you called.
It is a fun game, and I probably win 80% of the 5 or 6 handed games I play (maybe the people I am playing with just stink). I would love to find somewhere to gamble on this game. |

For money best way imo would be for anyone who wasn't within a set amount of points away from the winner at the end to pay the winner X number of cents per point they were behind at the end. This would keep people who were out of contention at the end from calling out for maximum tricks just to screw around.

The way we always played this was an x amount per point and everyone pays/receives from everyone. So coming in 2nd you pay the difference to nr 1 and receive from 3 and 4.
We always use the quadratic rule which adds a lot of fun. Basically for each trick being wrong your minus increases exponentially. correct bid: 10 points + 3 for each trick wrong bid: - 3^(delta tricks) So bid 6, make 6 you get +28 Bid 6, make 2 you get -81 |

Our rules were:
1) The total number of bids can't add up to the total number of tricks to be played. This is really important, because it means that someone allways has to screw up. 2) Correct bid = 10 + 1 per trick 3) Incorrect bid = -1 per trick It's kinda like baby bridge really.... Bridge is probably a better gambling game. |
