I get a 'C', bother. Just like school!

My Poker Grader

I put in a bunch of hands that I had exported to the drive. Kind of randomly chose them. Didn't quite get the client to work, but I didn't try that hard.

I've used this in the past, too... and love it, as a fun kind of tool. I've mostly used it to put in sessions where I feel like I've been beat up to get a bad luck value..

[ QUOTE ]
Most of the "good luck", as PG sees it, is in the form of good turn/river cards (read: suckouts). If one sees a lot of "good luck" in his or her PG printouts consistently, this says bad things about one's play, IMAO.

[/ QUOTE ]

This is sort of true. Since PG counts the actual strength vs the average strength, it is going to skew downwards for better players. The reason is that a good player is going to normally only be playing strong hands, and thus the average strength on the turn is probably going to be over 50%. So for example, lets say our hero has a strong hand, and their average turn strength is going to be 80%. If a good card hits, their strength may go up to 90%, a gain of 10%. However, if a horrible card hits, it can go down to 30-40%, a much greater drop.

So in most situations a good player is going to have more to lose than to gain, and it is probably going to skew a little bit towards bad luck. However, it is skill accurate, it is just that I'm trying to find the break-even point for luck so I can correct the results. Right now im using the bad luck/good luck data to correct it. At this point the correction is about +12 to the "overall luck" statistics to make 0 the break-even point.

OK. I'm still confused about this whole potential value/profit defination. Case in point: My Last 5k Hands

PG estimated that I had a potential BB/100 of about -1 (Yes, negative) over 5k hands but went on to grade my luck in each street as average? I'm a little lost here about the discrenpancy. -1BB/100 for 5k hands of 6-max and my luck was considered average in each street. I ran horribly those 5k hands (in fact I been running bad all month) and I don't think anything can be considered average about it.

Want to add that this is mostly 5/10 6-max limit. Some is 10/20 6-max.

I got a B for my 25NL 6-max game.

How well does pokergrader grade short handed games? Anyone know? It said that I was too loose PF, but my VPIP was about 32; which I thought was good for 6m. Maybe even a little tight.

I PM'ed PG the other day. As I understand his response, the program makes no adjustments for 6-max or less. He says he will keep it in mind for future updates.
