Where do you get that from? Duty isn't that much. And I'm pretty sure Dell actually manufactures in the US and since the computer is for his own personal use there should be no duty. Believe me, I just went through all this shipping a bunch from the US to Canada. But even if for whatever reason Canadian customs did insist he pay duty...it won't be anywhere near $300. It's about 10% normally.

To the OP...just call customs and ask about it if you can't get a better deal within Canada. They'll tell you exactly what you will or will not have to pay.
