Re: How does everyone recover from tilt?
If I suffer a really bad beat at a table and I think it might get to me, I take a walk for 15 minutes for so. If I make another mistake when I come back, I pick up and leave. If your head isn't there, make it up another time. It's one long poker game after all and the games will always be there.
I very rarely go on tilt. As Frappe said having a good understanding of the game really helps you make better decisions. Making decisions about what's correct based on the information you have, not the result is all you can do. Let the cards fall how they may. |

Re: How does everyone recover from tilt?
Something I'd like to note. I'm not posting this here because I want to complain about my bad beat. I'm posting this here because I want to get better. I killed this game on a very consistent basis prior to my "bad beat". I'm just now starting to get back into my groove at this table, I'm playing at 2/4 right now, and I'm up $50 in about 1 hour.
Like I said though, this is about getting better. I want to know if I played that incorrectly, I want to know how I can avoid tilting situations like this in the future, I want to know what other players do to stay on their game when this happens. Just trying to improve my game. |

Re: How does everyone recover from tilt?
I usually play tighter. Don't try to win your money back all at once. You aren't going to come out on top every time you play. Learn to minimize your losses, but discipline yourself to accept leaving a game with a loss.

Re: How does everyone recover from tilt?
There is nothing to recover from if you don't tilt to start with.
The ol saying goes "Sh*t happens" I have lost with quads 4 times since I moved back from AZ in 99. I never lost with them once out there, if I did I would have been the happiest person alive since their jackpots routinely hit $50,000 and above. Does it suck to think about, sure, but like I said "Sh*t happens" CJ |

Re: How does everyone recover from tilt?
my experience has told me to just take some time away and quit playing, regardless of how profitable a game may be. If you're playing poorly or just frustrated, it will be there tomorrow...
