Re: 1-2NL Starting to Become a Very Boring Game...
all you guys complaining about 1/2 NL games recently should quit worrying about whether or not the games are good (they probably are) and start worrying about learning how to play better.

[/ QUOTE ] Umm..ok...so when you look down at AA, raise to a modest $12 in early position, just to see 9 hands flying towards the dealer faster than you can blink... Should have played that better...my point I'm trying to make is a lot of the games I've seen lately have that kind of hand...and the reason nobody is calling the $12 is because they didn't pick up KK, AK suited, or QQ... |

Re: 1-2NL Starting to Become a Very Boring Game...
Then start raising on marginal holdings in late position like any two Broadway or any pocket pair when it's folded around to you, or even when it hasn't been.
If you're playing with nine total rocks, get up and leave. I think this is unlikely, though. Also, 12 is hardly a 'modest' raise. The standard online raise is 3-5x the BB. 10 is my standard at 1/2, not that it probably makes a difference. |

Re: 1-2NL Starting to Become a Very Boring Game...
like everyone said 12 is hardly a modest open, considering a pot raise is 7 straight. but, part of getting better at NL is going to involve seeing how every hand you play at the table related to every other hand, and exploiting how other players view you.

Re: 1-2NL Starting to Become a Very Boring Game...
I agree that if your 6xBB raises with AA are getting no action, raise less and make more raises.
However, I have seen 1/2 NL games where the play is pretty normal and there is no wild action. I switch to another table, to limit or 2/5NL, or a different casino. A few loose fish can effect the whole game. Good players will start making larger raises, calling raises with speculative hands, calling down with top pair, etc. These are reasonable adjustments to the change in the play. |
