99 in CO, how\'s the play post-flop
MP2 had not done a whole lot of pre-flop raising before this hand and seemed semi-selective post-flop. Button could have any 2 cards, any pair, any draw, 1 or 2 overcards.
Paradise Poker 0.05/0.10 Hold'em (10 handed) converter Preflop: Hero is CO with 9[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], 9[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]. Re: 99 in CO, how\'s the play post-flop
I like it up to this point.
Hero now bets, though I'm a bit curious as to what the Button's cold calling 2 with. Stay aggressive. If you're raised on the turn, you should either fold or go into showdown mode. Depends on the action and your reads on the players. |

Re: 99 in CO, how\'s the play post-flop
I would probably bet/fold. If called, check the river. Not looking good though. I guess it could be AQ/AJ.

Re: 99 in CO, how\'s the play post-flop
I don't think there's any question that you should raise on the flop... you have an overpair, and you want to thin the field so that the overcard that could hit on the turn is not as scary... If it gets 3-bet, you know more about your opponent's hand. By the way, I think BB is cold calling with a flush draw, I'm not too afraid of him.
Based on that, I bet the turn. If it's raised to me, I call and see how the river falls. |

[ QUOTE ]
Is this raise correct or is this a situation to call and see if the turn is a danger card? [/ QUOTE ] You want to raise here. If you're referring to the "Two Overpair Hands" section of SSH, I don't think that applies because that's more for value raises when you have a thin equity edge (versus a big one). In this case, you're raising to protect your hand. Any overcards you can fold improves your chance of taking this down. It might be better to wait until the turn to raise b/c of the double-size bet, but I'd still try to thin this field here. You're hand's just too vulnerable. On the turn, I'd bet and see what happens. A check/raise probably means and 8 or K and it's time to bail. |

Play on the river
I bet out on the turn, and was called by both the button and MP2.
River: 3 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] MP2 checked. Now what's the play? |

Re: Play on the river
I bet. I don't fear the bd flush, but I'm thinking someone has a weak K. Don't know why I think this though.

Results
I bet out and again both players called.
MP2 had QQ. Button hung in there with K7o and took the pot. |

Re: Results
Of course, I'm responding off a result, but I'm curious what the best line would be on the river? I figure with two people left to act behind you you're only going to get called by a hand that beats you so wouldn't a check/fold be an option? Both players check called down to the river so I would assume at least one of them have something (especially a K-rag) or slow played trip 8's so a bet out on the river could only face a call or possible raise. I don't think a value bet on this river will accomplish anything so at best I'd check/call or check/fold.
