3/6 in the SB and it folds around to you, what do you do?
General question. Full ring 3/6 on party, it folds to you in the SB, what is your action?
What hands would you raise/call/fold with? Personally, I raise any hand above 50% vs 1 random opponent and fold any below. Is this a standard play? Here is a list of hand vaules vs random opponents, if you didn't already have it http://www.gocee.com/poker/HE_Value.htm |

I raise with stealing hands, I fold everything I don't want to steal with.

I only do that if he's passive enough to not raise me preflop.

Re: 3/6 in the SB and it folds around to you, what do you do?
Because the small blind is $1 vs. the BB's $3, I tend to raise fewer hands than I would in a 1/2 structure. You're risking $5 to win $3 rather than $3 to win $2 (e.g. at 2/4). So it's probably about 35-40% of my hands, or, as the other poster put it, the hands you'd steal from the button with.
Remember, if you get called, you're out of position the rest of the hand. |

Re: 3/6 in the SB and it folds around to you, what do you do?
I think you should be tighter than 50%, because you are out of position. And even when you raise you are spending 5/3 small bets and giving your opponent 3-1 to call and see a flop. If he frequently folds in this spot (he shouldn't) then raise a lot, but most people I play with tend to be pretty loose in this spot.

no, you are risking 5 to win 4. The sb is no longer yours, once you post it.
and do you really find people calling here a lot? Because, I've found in the full games a lot of people use the c/f button in the blinds when they get dealt weak hands and end up folding more than half the time. |

Re: 3/6 in the SB and it folds around to you, what do you do?
I steal a lot. A LOT from the Hijack back.
That being said, against observant opponents or looseish opponents I tend to fold my more marginal stealing hands from the SB. Some as an image play (I won't steal all the time - i.e., I don't play total trash) and some because the 1/3 discount doesn't make up for the positional disadvantage. -d |
