Re: Bad Bad Day! Hand 5
Yes. I might have checked behind on the turn, though. With one pair, I will often bet flop, check turn, call river. I would say that is my default HU.

Re: Bad Bad Day! Hand 5
I figured that there is not much I am ahead of at this point.
My last hope had been jacks but now that jack screws it up. By betting out I hoped to represent jacks and hope he didn't have them. When he raised I assumed he did and got out of the way. By checking behind I would have indicated that I was scared of the turn card. |

By checking behind I would have indicated that I was scared of the turn card. [/ QUOTE ] And that would have given you a cheaper showdown as a result. |

Re: Bad Bad Day! Hand 5
I would never check the turn here. Villian could have a huge range of holdings that don't fill up when the J hits. I'm not giving a free card here or inviting a bluff.

Re: Bad Bad Day! Hand 5
He could have a large range of holdings that do fill up as well. I'm not married to a mediocre overpair in this hand. I check, looking for a cheap showdown. If none is offered, I'm finding a better spot.
Based on your logic, which hands that "don't fill up" are behind you at this point? |

Re: Bad Bad Day! Hand 5
JTs and T9s come to mind. If they are hearts, maybe it is close to even with one card to come (too lazy to check twodimes).
Edit: I wouldn't call 7BB from the SB with either of those, but you can never tell what they might do. |

Re: Bad Bad Day! Hand 5
Of course you can't, but poker is a game of probability. More often than not (based on the previous action), this is a terrible turn card.
