Default Re: Looking for high quality poker chips

I own a set of 500 of those that I bought from 5-star. They're a good deal for ~$100 or so, but I wouldn't pay much more than that. I also tend to believe that like most E-Bay sellers, 5-star shills his auctions, so don't bid more than you'd pay to buy them from his or someone else's site. If you're patient, you may get a deal. Check the shipping charges too, they're jacked up for E-bay, cheaper through his site. Despite this all, I'd reccomend him if the price is right. He delivers if you pay, and it's generally a known comodity what you're buying.

Most sellers call them clay, and they may very well have some clay in them, but they feel more like plastic, an acrylic really, I think. The heavier (11.5g v. 8.5g) ones have a metal slug molded in to give them the extra weight. They stack well, make a decent sound when they hit each other in the pot. The only thing they lack is the texture of a clay casino chip. I don't play as many home games as I'd like, but I've been happy with them.
