Angle Shoot?
Playing in a NL Tournament.
Hero is the BB with KK. Blinds are 100/200. Hero has good sized stack of about 6,500. 3 Limps to hero. Hero raises to 1,000. MP and Button Call, SB Folds. Flop comes K 7 3 - Rainbow. Hero first to act lets his time run out, is quickly put on away, and MP now bets. Hero quickly gets back to the table while the button is thinking about what to do, and can now still act on his turn. I didn't mean to miss my turn, but after the button folds, I raise enough to put MP all in. He calls - flips over A7, and MHIG. I got berated for angleshooting here, but I was away cause one of my kids was bugging me for a second. Please let me know if I did something "unethical", and please remember - the other people have no idea why i suddenly sat out, and came back. |

Re: Angle Shoot?
If you're allowed to time out in a hand and come back during that same hand, then it's fine. (I think you play on pokerroom where I know you can do this).
So, why not? You had no ill intention, so it's fine. I would have done the same thing (being that it was unintentional.) Though, I've never really thought to shoot an angle like that intentionally. MP could have folded. |

Re: Angle Shoot?
I think the guy betting with second pair just because you were AFK is the only Angle I saw Shot.

Re: Angle Shoot?
Clearly not an angle shoot. You didn't intend to get distracted; real life intrudes sometimes. They probably won't believe your explanation, but you know what happened, and you can ignore them. If they complain to the site, your explanation should suffice, particularly if it happens infrequently.

Re: Angle Shoot?
Would doing this on purpose be considered an angle shoot?

Would doing this on purpose be considered an angle shoot? [/ QUOTE ] I think it would. Basically, by doing this, one has the option of staying on "away" status with no further risk, or jumping back into the fray after someone folds (on the theory that fewer opponents increases the likelihood of winning). So I can see why the other players at the table were upset about it. -Mike |

You'll fold the hand. If hero had be unlucky to face a bet when all this happened, he would have had his nut hand folded for him. |

Re: Angle Shoot?
Thanks all for your responses.
I do see why the others felt this coul be an angle shoot - but at a low buy in tourney ($10) - it's really not worth it, espcially the risk of it being folded by the button quickly before I can click on "I'm Back" |

I was assuming it behaved like disconnect protection with the added ability to rejoin the hand later. Yeah, if there is a risk of being folded, it's definitely not an angle-shoot even if done on purpose. -Mike |
