Hey, my school is having a fundraiser and i came up with the idea to have a poker tournament. The plan is to have say a 10 dollar tournament and give out stuff that is donated to us as prizes. I think best buy, various resturants, and maybe some other electronic stores are donating us stuff like tv's, ps2, etc. All the money we raise goes towards the student organization. This is all legal right? Any ideas or comments is appreciated.

I just played in one at Harvard Law School. Guess that means it's legal.
Side note: Alan Dershowitz played in the tournament. Reportedly not very good. |

Depends on where you are. I played in a charity tournament in Texas last year, and the tournament director was a county judge. He said that under Texas law the prize could not have any significant value, so it was a beer mug.
