Re: Flopping trips vs a pro
[ QUOTE ]
"Do You have an A" Translation : Hope so, cause I have 66. [/ QUOTE ] But if it's checked through to you, would you put out a pot sized bet if you'd flopped a boat? Seems if I was holding 66 in Allen's position, I would wait til the turn to stir up action. |

Re: Flopping trips vs a pro
I don't agree with anyone who says that Allen C.'s comment necessarily means you are beat. Only an amateurs would make a statement that could so easily be interpreted by message board losers. What his statement means is that he is trying to figure out what you have so that he can either optimize his profits or cut his losses. He may have 66 and wants to know if he can get all your chips. Or he may have 88 and wants to know if he should fold. Or he may have Axs and wants to know if he shoudl play cautiously.

[/ QUOTE ] Best way to win a big pot is to build it on all streets. Slowplaying just scares eveyone off at the end. If Allen has 66 a nice medium bet on the flop will help tie an A to the pot for a later street. Regards, Woodguy |

[/ QUOTE ] I don't particularly see merit in slowplaying 66 here. You'll get action from an A, and any other hand is going to be _very_ suspicious if you come to life on the turn. I think you get the most value from 66 by betting the flop and hoping someone likes his trip aces. edit - I totally play as goot as woodguy. sweet. |

Re: Flopping trips vs a pro
I have to agree, noone is really going to pay you off big time unless they have an Ace. With all the prefolp limps he has to figure there is a A limping here a large % of the time, that of course is not going to bet this flop.
Build it and they will come...... |

Re: Flopping trips vs a pro
Good point, I guess a pot size bet will make an A play back at you, whereas a 1/2 pot, etc. bet would seem a little fishy. Either way, though, the ace is playing.

Let's assume for the case of this discussion that my read of his comment was correct.
How was my flop and turn play? |

Re: Flopping trips vs a pro
Even if you put him on 66, you should probably call on the turn. Your pot odds are appx. 5 to 1 and you are 5.5 to 1 to win the hand (by getting the quads or full house on the river).
I have hard time seeing what he had if it wasn't 66. I can't see him limping with an ace, or calling the flop checkraise with QQ. Were there any special table circumstances, like a notorious raiser in the blinds? Btw, I would have raised or folded preflop. -Magnus |
