I'm gonna add on to the people who reccomended the 17" WUXGA 9300. You can find lots of good coupons to bring them down to very affordable prices.

get the 7200rpm 60g drive instead of upgrading 100mhz for $100. 2yr inhome warranty is worth considering as well.

If you just bought this laptop, I would consider upgrading your warranty. I would get the 3 year at home with the complete care package. I think they let you do this w/in a week or so of receiving the comp and you can definitely add before getting. It will cost you another 300 but worth it long term. I've had the hard drive die and a month ago i had to have basically everything on the comp replaced. I basically got a new comp for free after having it for 2 years. Dell makes solid laptops but they are rather volitile (like any laptop) and are prone to have [censored] blowing up. Just a thought. And laptops aren't as easy to fix yourself like a desktop.

i didn't buy an extended warranty on my car or my hdtv but i got one on my dell laptop. i generally don't buy them for anything. dell isn't exactly riding a legacy of reliability but their worst days definitely seem to be behind them. it's a huge pain in the ass to ship something to them though, it's worth $120 or whatever it cost to get 2 years and never have to deal with anything other than a phone.
