Reminds me of when hellmuths book came out. Everyone was jamming the hell out of any mid or weaker pair they had. Maybe it's related to that in some way.

[/ QUOTE ] that's horrible. i saw a girl call at a home game with 32o with 5 overcards on the board. i was in complete disbelief and she says to the guy who won "i thought you were bluffing" there's some real solid players out there |

I played Party 3/6 for the first time this weekend (I have mostly played no limit or 1/2 before), and I was definitely surprised by how often people were trying to bluff me. I'm not the most experienced player, so I thought perhaps there was some deeper strategy going on that I can't comprehend yet. But, uh, that doesn't seem to be the case...
After folding the best hand a few times, I decided to just keep calling down until the player convinced me that at least once in a while he has something. Some of the biggest pots I won were against 2 people where I took the pot with A high or bottom pair -- once I think I had king high. I had a full house, aces and sevens (with AA7 flop, 7 turn, 4 river), I thought for sure we were going to split the pot or he had 4 7s with all the action, but no -- he had pocket jacks. It was a little spooky. I played with at least 4 players like this in the last 2 days. I beat them with nothing. They beat my AA with 43o (after cold calling 3 bets). Certainly keeps the game interesting. I thought maybe this time I was beat, so I just called the river raise. Maybe that's the deeper strategy? Keep me off balance so I don't re-raise river bluff raises?
