Re: Why I want to pull my hair out
IMO check calling the flop is flat out terrible, especially since you are on the bubble!! I would bet the flop, but if you are going to check, you absolutely must check raise on the flop. You only have 800 behind and have 900 of your own chips in the pot. This is not the time to try to extract an extra 800 in chips. If you had QQ ok, but you just have AQ.
This is not the time to be creative. But it's a good thing that you posted this, as you'll stop playing hands like this in the future and it should help your results, because this really is a dreadful way to play with one pair and over half your money in the pot. Something like 87s will beat you 22% of the time here. KJ will beat you 15% of the time. These numbers aren't negligible. |

Re: Why I want to pull my hair out
I agree with this.
Except that [ QUOTE ] You only have 800 behind and have 900 of your own chips in the pot. [/ QUOTE ] How many chips you put in the pot preflop shouldnt be on your mind after you make the decision to put them in. They're just in the pot now. The fact that you put them there doesnt matter. |

Re: Why I want to pull my hair out
Of course it doesnt technically matter whether they came from your stack or not, but I think everyone here knows what I mean. Putting half of your stack in and not protecting it properly is not a great strategy.

Re: Why I want to pull my hair out
Of course its not good strategy, its pretty bad strategy. The hero in this hand didnt really have a good plan it seems, and if he did it wasnt thought out very well.
I wasnt tryin to be nitpicky.,.. its just that too many people actually do think that money they put in the pot on past streets should come into play, when it never really should. |

Re: Why I want to pull my hair out
Yeah but in this case the player voluntarily put half his money in the pot by calling the flop. In general this is something you shouldn't be looking to do. Probably I worded it poorly! |
