In a field with 75 players, where the blind structure starts out at 10-20 and raised every 10 minutes, is there any strategy that can be implemented to effectively make it down to the final table? I know its pretty much a crap shoot with such a fast blind structure, but I'm figuring playing little to no hands the first couple of levels and then playing ultra aggressive to steal blinds would be a good way to accumulate chips.
BTW, I know the tourney sounds ridiculous but it's actually a real tourney held by my university with a free buy in and some good prizes for the top finishers. Any advice would be appreciated, thanks. |

what are the starting stacks?
play tight until the blinds are worth stealing, and then steal blinds as often as you get a favourable situation to do so is all the advice i can offer without more infomation really |

Every 10 minutes for live play is nuts. Especially considering your at a uni tournament which I expect means many people who don't have a clue whats going on and slowing the game down. My advice would be wait for something half decent and go all in attempting to double up. If you do you can play. If you don't you can instigate some side action. Stack size would help though

I do not know the starting chips they are giving out. However, I expect the field to be widley unexperienced and will have a lot of kids who watch the WPT/WSOP/etc. and play in low buy in home games.

Yeah, I'm figuring it will be an all in fest within an hour of the tourney. However, the field will be more than likely highly unskilled and I think I will be able to take advantage with ultra-aggression.

If oyu back yourself as a better player then getting a big stack must be a priority. Down scrape aroud because you will have no way to show you're any better. Get big or get out.

UB has started some kind of turbo tournaments where the blinds increase every 5 minutes. I haven't played one but I might drop in to watch just for kicks.
