Re: Learning Holdem, New player\'s log (10,000 hands)

[ QUOTE ] right now my strategy is to just walk away from those tables [/ QUOTE ] That's no good. Those games are great and there is a lot of easy money to be found in them. Keep reading SSHE, and you will eventually get it. [/ QUOTE ] Yes I stayed at the tables losing 87 Big blinds because I felt I had the advantage :-) I *want* loose players to try to suck out on me. I'm a really bad player but I thought the other players were worse. I'm such a bad player that I need this sort of game to have a chance. For example: I'm in EP and am dealt Qd Qc, Preflop it's capped 5 ways (about 20 sb in pot) Fop comes Qs 7h 8h, Pot gets bet and reraised and reraised, everyone folds except me and another LAG player. I can not think of another hand that is better than mine so I keep reraising. Is this correct or should I wait to the turn to raise? I put in 11 re-raises! He reraises them! I should have reraised him down to the felt (we both had about 40 BB) But I make an stupid error and call after 12 reraises. I was thinking I would see what the turn is and see if he will reraise me into even worst odds. I don't even watch the board when the dealer burns and turns. I watch his face ... the grin on his face shouted, "I got a flush!" Turn 2h // Bad card for me, I figured I had pot odds to fill up to a full house or quads getting over 20 to 1. Bet, Call River was a rag Bet, Call He shows Jh 3h! I smile congratulate him and shake his hand. Question: I should have re-raised on the flop to the felt or he called or someone ran out of money right?????? Derick |

"Question:
I should have re-raised on the flop to the felt or he called or someone ran out of money right??????" ------------------------------------------- Yes. You were about a 3-1 favorite. (exact percentages from twodimes.net below) You could have been even a bigger favorite (at least 87% and often more) against some other possible hands (77, 88, possibly even AA or KK) You can't be an underdog on this board. I think Th9h is probably the worst case for your opponent to have and you are about a 58% favorite in that case. I suppose an arguement could be made for calling the flop if you thought your opponent would still be willing to put all of his chips in with a non heart turn, but I would just get as many in while you know you have a significant edge. Unless you are playing on a really short bankroll, I think it is a pretty clear decision to reraise indefinately on the flop. Don't feel too bad about it though. In this case, you would have actually lost more money if you did this. Obviously, there is no way he was going to fold. pokenum -h qd qc - jh 3h -- qs 7h 8h Holdem Hi: 990 enumerated boards containing Qs 8h 7h cards win %win lose %lose tie %tie EV Qc Qd 737 74.44 253 25.56 0 0.00 0.744 Jh 3h 253 25.56 737 74.44 0 0.00 0.256 |

Re: Learning Holdem, New player\'s log (10,000 hands)
Thanks Sakukraba,
I played again on the weekend and this time I only lost 9 BB, (streak is now -96BB) The 2/5 table I was at was very loose. One good player won about 80 big blinds in 4 hours. Derick |

[/ QUOTE ] Don't be impressed your play is the correct play. I called because I figured I might be able to keep getting reraised if I got the nuts on the turn. As it turned out he obviously got a flush on the turn (His eyes lit up and he smiled) so I figured I needed to river full house or quads. That didn't happen so missed some +ev bets on the flop and I lost a lot of chips in that pot. |
