No, I meant re: the post before you... I didn't think you were serious, even without the funnie smily things.

Re: 1/2 stud/8 hand
I really must be slow... I thought that one was serious, and I didn't get it even when it was pointed out to me.

actually Nick...with the antes you have the odds to play [/ QUOTE ] I think Andy's 2nd post covers this, where he points out the long odds to hit a set on 4th, then having to fold when missing. I went back and looked at the pot odds, and even with an ultra-high ante, it just doesn't look to be worth it. FWIW Nick, trips on 4th can be a costly hand to play in this game- half the pot when you fill (a scoop is unlikely with so many low hands), possibly shut out when you don't. To mirror Iron's point, the jacks-up will be a playing loser. |

Re: 1/2 stud/8 hand
I would go out of my way to play any hi-lo table the guy with the 10 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] is sitting at. He bet out on 4th with crap, and stayed through 6th. I like those people.

Re: 1/2 stud/8 hand
I guess you have a better chance to hit a backdoor low than TT5 does.
Twodimes assumes that everyone will see the river. That isn't how poker is played. The problem is that the two low hands each have several cards that they can hit on fourth street which will turn them into powerhouses. You have two. The mug with the Ten has two. Your hand is a playing loser. |

Re: 1/2 stud/8 hand
Routine fold on 3rd. Playing weak one hands just get you
in trouble on later streets. Win small pots, lose big pots when the low draws turn into str8's and flushes. If your'e bored after folding 40 hands, play something marginal like (6,7)7 instead of (8,8)J. |

ummm i already automatically play hands like 6-6-7 believe me if i had gotten that i woulda played it mike [/ QUOTE ] Did you mean mean you "sometimes" play (6,6)7? Actually, this hand is much bettter than the hand I mentioned, split small pair with a small side card. Having the small pair hidden allows you to nail the chumps starting out with split nines if you do make trips. Small pair, small kicker looks nice in your hand, but it's not really very strong. Your chance of a making a decent low is small, and it's also a weak start to a high. I will call the bring-in in late position if the pair is completely live, but I will never call a completed bet. I will usually muck it if an ace has entered the pot. You can make some decent money with this hand if you make a small, hidden full house, but usually you end up with a lousy high and a missed low. |
