I read somewhere that it's not good to listen to music while playing poker (specifically online) because it takes your focus away from the game and you miss things that should be picked up on. Anybody have any thoughts on this?

I can't play with music when playing online. It does distract me. I guess everybody is different

Yes, music helps make it less of a grind. But I do hit pause at times when i am in several big hands at once requiring tough decisions. This happens maybe once or twice an hour.
I should add that I listen to softer stuff than I would while not playing. |

[/ QUOTE ] Thats odd, I actually think it really helps me when I'm in several hands at once. I feel like it calms me down, and I can be more "in the flow" or whatever you want to call it, so I can just make quick decisions and not doubt myself as much. |

I like to listen to music sometimes, especially in long sessions. Coldplay-ish music is what I find works best.
