Oh those damn rules always need clarification....
So I couldn't find anything from previous threads about this.
What is the rule when the dealer accidentally burns two cards and throws them into the muck before laying the flop? Do you dig out the card that should have been on the flop? Or do you simply play on and deal the next three cards? It happened twice tonight, and seeing as this wasn't a casino cardroom but a live game nonetheless, no one really knew what the rule was. Anyone know the answer to this one? |

You definitely can't dig cards out of the muck. I would deal the next three cards. I'd also tell the guy to stop being an idiot and burning two cards in a row, since you said this was a continuous problem.

Well that's what they did, but any ideas as to what the actual rule is?

Re: Oh those damn rules always need clarification....
I don't know what the actual rule is, but I do know that in casinos. the burn cards ave placed in a seperate pile underneath the pot There are instance in 7lcard stud and possibly other games where the burn cards are shuffled with the last two cards of the deck to produce a river card for every player. It happens when a lot of players stay in until late streets and there are not enough cards in the deck to deal a river card to every player. Maybe keeping the burn cards seperate would solve this problem

but it's still considered dead even in a 'dealer's muck pile'... so the problem still remains...

Not really strange at all. All it means is you haven't had the situation occur at certain casinos.

When the cards are not retrievable you are to shuffle up the stub(not the muck) put out a flop with out a burn, then do normal burn & turn as usual. This is what the standard practice would be.
