First time going to Vegas.

I've got a buddy that said he would get the tickets to Vegas if I would get the hotel room.

The plan is to leave on a Thursday, and return on a Sunday.

Neither of us have been. We can both go pretty much any week.

I'm looking for advice/suggestions.
I play Holdem 3-6 to 10-20.
He plays holdem and Omaha Hi-Lo 3-6 or 4-8.

Neither of us play any other casino games.
Pretty much just a poker trip, but maybe a couple other "extracurricular" activities.

When is a good/bad time to be there?
Any recommended hotels for a man on a budget. Don't want a hole-in-the-wall place, but don't need a palace.
Clean, and great location.
Casino recomendation?
Rent a car?

Any help appreciated.
