Re: Flat Tax The Most Unfair
The problem here, as Ive always seen it, is that the very idea of a taxing a millionaire 35% and that supporting the poor with the tax money is un-American. Yeah I said it.
The American dream, as I understand it, is to work hard and become successful. It is not to work hard for the privelenge of having a larger and larger percentage of you're hard work taken to support people who have given up on the dream. America is a country founded on the following two ideas: democracy and free-market capitalism. The first one works alright, but the second one is rapidly disintegrating. America won the Cold War in the sense that we defeated the political idea of Communism and Democracy triumphed. The problem is that we are losing the Cold War of free-market capitalism vs. collective socialism. The entire idea of wealth redistribution if morally reprehisible to the American Ideal. It is the burgeoning triumph of the dictatorship of the poor and disillusioned, to whom socialism is targetted. Socialism stunts growth by suppressing creativity and innovation. Far too many have given up, knowing that that giving up is an option, because the government will take care of them. Our America is starting down a path where those who live the American Dream are exploited to the point of absurdity to support those who believe they are entitled to the fruits of the hard work of others simply because they hold out their hands for it. Dont mistake me. I have nothing agaist helping those who need it, and I have nothing agaisnt private charities doing it. I have a problem with Americans voluntarily sacrificing the American Ideal by giving up and demanding that others support them because they cant or wont do it themselves. If America doesnt wake up, then Marx will have won, and his prediction will come true. Socialism will be the next evolutionary step from capitalism, because the Americans seem to want it. God Bless America. /end rant TRWIII |
